The West Palisades Trail explores the scenic Paces Mill Park near Vinings, one of the Chattahoochee River’s most popular recreation areas in metro Atlanta. The southern end of Cochran Shoals enables you to extend your journey west and connect to various other trails in Cumberland and Smyrna. Cochran Shoals trail follows the western bank of the Chattahoochee River for nearly two miles. Bob Callan Trail is on Chattahoochee River, Rottenwood Creek, and Long Island Creek in Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, GA. They are Dog-Friendly trails, and perfect for pedestrians, hikers, and cyclists. The trails are excellent connections for residents and visitors to explore and interact with Cumberland’s attractions and rich natural assets. Being a multi-use trail, Akers Mill Trail connects the Bob Callan Trailhead with the National Park Service at the Chattahoochee River’s Cochran Shoals Recreation Area. Lots of parking boat launch very clean and safe. Great paved walking path right next to the river. Just getting lost out there is fun, unless it's dark. We're talking about pleasant scenery especially in the heart of the trails. Running, biking or just walking is peaceful and relaxing as you surround yourself with trees everywhere. A great side trail runs along Rottenwood Creek up to the Galleria area. It's a nice hike out the river under I-75 and beyond.
